Who we are?

Hizb ut-Tahrir (meaning The Party of Liberation) is a global Islamic political party. Our aim is to establish Islam and carry the message of Islam to humankind, via the re-establishment of the Khilafah.

Where did it begin?

The party was established in 1953 in al-Quds, under the leadership of its founder Sheikh Taqiuddin an-Nabhani (may Allah have mercy on him) who was a scholar, political thinker and a judge.

What does Hizb ut-Tahrir do?

The Hizb works to create a public opinion in the Muslim countries in favour of the Islamic political system, the Khilafah, through emulating the example of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

This involves presenting the Islamic solutions to address contemporary problems, political activism and ultimately working for political change in the Muslim countries in a non-violent way.

In the West, we encourage the Muslim community to be the advocates for Islam, as well as to work with us and support us in our global work.

Hizb ut-Tahrir today?

Hizb ut-Tahrir is currently headed by the eminent scholar and jurist Sheikh Ata bin Khaleel Abu al-Rashta. It has branches in over 40 countries, working primarily in the Muslim world at all levels of society to bring about real change.
