In the diary entry, Sir Patrick writes the conversation took place over a lunch he was invited to with Ms Thatcher. “She opened the conversation by thrusting a newspaper cutting about Oliver Tambo [ANC president] in front of us, saying that it proved that we should not be talking to him… She continued to express her views about a return to pre-1910 South Africa, with a white mini-state partitioned from their neighbouring black states.”

Margaret Thatcher’s desire for a ‘whites-only state’ in South Africa…
Donald Trump describing a country in Africa as a ‘s**t hole’…
H&M’s hoodie debacle which reinforced age-old colonial notions of black people being compared to monkeys…
The unprecedented rise of the far-right movement throughout the west…
Are these merely coincidental blips or are they telling signs of an inherent problem within the values of the western world?
The nation-state model implemented and glorified by capitalism, is one that will always promote the superiority of indigenous people over minorities.
It breeds an air of arrogance and cultivates an atmosphere of racism and xenophobia. Hence, otherwise shocking statements made by leaders of the ‘civilised’ world, are of no surprise whatsoever.
It is only Islam that will cleanse the world from the stains of racism, through it’s unique worldview which binds all of humanity as being the creation of Allah.
Superiority is ranked through piety alone, and the world at large is subject to the rights Allah has decreed for them. At a time riddled with tribalism, racism, slavery, ageism and more, Islam radically uprooted such social ills and founded a new world order. Bilal (ra), a black man and former slave, became a man of high esteem and the first mu’azzin of Islam.
Whilst the world recently marvelled at the first black President of America, Muhammad (saw) elected the teenage black companion Usamah ibn Zaid (ra) as the general of an expedition against the Romans in Syria 1400 years ago.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab and for a non-Arab over an Arab; nor for white over the black nor for the black over the white except in piety. Verily the best among you is he who has the most taqwa (piety).” [Bukhari]
