Event synopsis
One of the greatest figures in Islamic history, Salahuddin al Ayyubi (rh) was known for his courage, bravery, adherence to Islam and firmness in the face of falsehood. These are the qualities for which he was renowned, and the qualities which this Ummah desperately needs today.
Summary
The speaker provided some very inspirational recollections from the life of Salahuddin – portraying him as the role model he truly was for young and old alike. Recollections such as Salahuddin’s memorisation of the Qur’an from an early age, his upright nature in accounting the rulership of his time and the zealous vigour with which his role of being a representative of Muhammad (saw) undertook.
However, the key overarching message was about how his uniting of the fractious leaders at a time of widespread disunity, is what led to the defeat of the crusaders and liberation of Al-Aqsa.
The solution presented by the speaker was thus one of political unity. Although there were ‘aqeedah, fatalistic and disunity problems aplenty at the time of Salahuddin, it was only through this political unity that such symptomatic problems were able to be resolved.
Only by uniting the Muslims through a single leadership, under the Khilafah system, can the Ummah solve the problems it faces in the world today.
The event finished by making du’a to Allah (swt) for His guidance, help and victory, followed by light refreshments and healthy discourse amongst the audience on the issues discussed.
