(Oh you who believe! Endure and be more patient, and Rabitu) [TMQ 3:200]
Al-Hasan Al-Basri said, “The believers are commanded to be patient in the religion that Allah chose for them, Islam. They are not allowed to abandon it in times of comfort or hardship, ease or calamity, until they die as Muslims. They are also commanded to endure against their enemies, those who hide the truth about their religion.”
They also say that the Murabatah in the above Ayah refers to battles against the enemy, and manning Muslim outposts to protect them from enemy incursions inside Muslim territory.
There are several Hadiths that encourage Murabatah and mention its rewards. Al-Bukhari recorded that Sahl bin Sa`d As-Sa`idi said that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said,
«رباط يوم في سبيل الله خير من الدنيا وما عليها»
(A Day of Ribat in the cause of Allah is better than this life and all that is in it.)
There is the physical Ribat in which our brothers in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and other places around the world are trying to hold back the enemy forces of the kuffar, but there is also the intellectual and cultural outposts in this war against Islam, which we the Muslims here in Britain and the west have to maintain. Maintaining the intellectual outposts means holding fast to the Islamic values, beliefs and ideals, and stoping the kufr western values from penetrating and polluting the intellectual territory of our Deen.
In the battle of patience, the aim of the game is to outdo your opponent in patience.
At the height of the Cold War during the Cuban missile crisis, the Soviets and the US were involved in a battle of wills, a battle of patience to see who would outdo the other. When the Soviets turned their ships back from the US blockade the US Secretary of State Dean Rusk said:
“We’ve been eyeball to eyeball and the other fellow just blinked.”
The BBC Panorama program was the latest engagement in the the global and local war against Islam and the blockade that has been placed on key Islamic ideas and values. Just as the Soviets blinked and turned back they wish the Muslims to blink and turn back.
So the question is, will we abandon are Islamic values and beliefs or will we outdo our enemy in patience?
Battle of Patience & Will

No, NEVER EVER!
