Protesters support people in Uzbekistan on 10th anniversary of Karimov’s Andijan Massacre
On the tenth anniversary of the government ordered massacre in the city of Andijan, protesters from across the UK gathered outside the Uzbekistan embassy in London to voice support for the people of Uzbekistan who face ongoing oppression at the hands of the brutal Karimov regime. This was the culmination of a series of global events by Hizb ut-Tahrir to raise awareness of and show support for the Muslims of Uzbekistan – thousands of whom are being arrested, tortured and killed simply for peacefully demanding an Islamic way of life or inviting others to live by Islam. Speeches were in Uzbek, Arabic, Russian and English. Protesters were urged to raise awareness about the plight of the oppressed so that other Muslims become concerned and seek to aid their umma in that lands. They were also urged to make dua and support the global political work for the return of the Khilafah Rashidah in the Muslim world so that the people of Uzbekistan and other such lands can once again enjoy justice and security.
