London UK, 26th May 2012 – Hundreds of Muslims gathered at the Pakistan High Commission in London to protest against the abduction of Naveed Butt (Hizb ut-Tahrir spokesman in Pakistan), call for the removal of the corrupt system and politicians and demand the establishment of the Khilafat system in Pakistan. The demonstration was organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir in Britain.
Some of the protestors chants included “Amrika ka jo yar hai, Ghaddar hai ghadar hai” and “Pakistan ka hull kya hai? Khilafat Hai, Khilafat Hai”
Protestors stood behind banners that read ‘Free Naveed Butt: Call for real change for Pakistan’, and ‘Pakistan needs real change: Pakistan needs Khilafat’.
The rally was addressed by Dr Imran Waheed and Dr Abdul Wahid from Hizb ut-Tahrir, as well as Mushtaq Raja, a Muslim community leader.
Speakers roundly condemned the Pakistan government’s abduction of Naveed Butt in front of his children. They highlighted how this engineer has tirelessly opposed the NATO supply lines, and called for the Khilafat system in Pakistan – a strong Islamic leadership to replace the weakness and corruption of the existing ruling parties. They said this is why he was abducted.
They demanded the release of Naveed Butt and all those abducted on the instructions of the U.S. They also demanded that all military co-operation with the US is severed, NATO supply lines are closed and that Pakistan stops providing logistical support to US and NATO forces operating inside Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Speakers called on Muslims in Britain to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Muslims in Pakistan and join the growing call to oust the current system and politicians and establish a new leadership and new system in the form of a just and accountable Khilafat state. The demonstration ended peacefully with dua that Allah (swt) bring His Help and Victory soon.
