Following Asr prayers and before Iftar, two talks were delivered on the subject of unity.
In an impassioned speech, Reda noted that the month of Ramadhan was a great opportunity for reflection and for Muslims to strengthen their obedience to Allah. He noted the danger of Muslims focusing on worship within Ramadhan, but neglecting their duties in other times of the year. His also drew attention to the fact obedience in Islam extends beyond the personal capacity, to the duty of Muslims to work for their unification under one Khaleefah, in one state. He ended his speech with reference to two hadeeth, one in which the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) stated that 'fasting is a shield', the other that 'the Imam is a shield', emphasising the need of Muslims for both shields.

The second speaker Kamal Abu Zahra delivered an eloquent speech on the need for unity among Muslims in the West, and the importance of preserving the links between them and the issues of the Ummah in the Islamic world. He explained how the global revival of Islam threatened the interests of the West in the Islamic world. In order to address this issue, he noted that official policies in the West were aiming to instigate tensions and differences among Muslims, labelling some as moderate and others as extremist. He gave numerous examples of how were being made to formulate a new 'British' identity for Muslims, which involved separating their emotional and political links from the wider Islamic Ummah. He ended by encouraging the Muslims to work to strengthen their unity, and foil attempts to distort their Islamic values.
