dr.jpg17th January 2010 - Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain today held a public seminar titled 'Awami League: A year of Failure'.

The event was attended by all sectors of the community, predominantly, the expatriate Bangladeshi students. The speakers were Mujibul Islam (Bangla Media Representative) and Rezaul Karim (Student Leader, Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangla Committee), and chaired by Dr Ali Ahmed Shuaib.

The event was very interactive, where everyone actively participated in the discussion affecting Bangladesh. The first talk was delivered by Rezaul Karim who eloquently highlighted all the key failures of the Awami government over the last one year. Karim said in his speech that the Awami government was brought to power by foreign countries such as the US, India and Britain to serve their own selfish interests. Since coming to power, over the last one year, the Awami government has failed to control the price hike of essentials and bring it within the reach of the common people, as promised in its election manifesto; has weakened the defence forces by conspiring with India to create the BDR massacre and thereby allowing foreign interference within the army; has carried out open anti-Islamic campaign, in the name of fighting terrorism, with the aim to remove Islam from the country; and has completely surrendered the country to foreign powers such as India and the US. This can clearly be seen from the humiliating agreement agreed by Sheikh Hasina with India from her recent visit there.

Karim ended his speech by saying that the Awami government has failed to uphold the people’s interests and ensure national security, just like the other past governments. This proves that what Bangladesh needs is not a change of party and new faces, rather a change of system that will end the old politics of corruption, quarrelling and self-interest.
The second talk was delivered by Mujibul Islam who presented Islam as the only viable alternative solution for Bangladesh. Mujibul Islam, in his speech demonstrated how Islam will produce a new leadership with a vision, dedication and loyalty to the nation. A leadership that will have the ability to unite the people towards progress, ensure national security, solve the problem of price hikes of essentials and eradicate poverty. It will also remove all form of foreign interference in the affairs of Bangladesh by formulating a clear foreign policy based upon Islam that will define who is an ally and who is an enemy, so that no country has domination over Islam and the Muslims.

Mujibul Islam ended his speech by urging the Muslim community to work with Hizb ut-Tahrir in establishing the Khilafah, as only the Khilafah can ensure true security and progress for the Muslims of Bangladesh.
