RAWALPINDI: Judge of Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 Akram Awan on Tuesday ordered Margalla police to free 31 activists of Hizbut Tahrir (HT), a banned outfit.
Appearing before the court, the arrested men’s lawyer contested the police’s claim that literature recovered from his clients was hate provoking and critical of national institutions.
He said police arrested his clients unnecessarily and therefore, they should be freed.
The court later issued orders for immediate release of the HT workers, who were arrested on October 17 last year in a F-8/3 house where a secret meeting of the outfit was underway.
