WPO: Pakistanis Say Musharraf Resignation Would Improve Stability

As Pakistan prepares to go to the polls in arguably the most contraversial national elections in its history, an increasing number of people are calling for their boycott due to intimidation of the opposition by Musharraf's regime. There is also  a clear desire among the people for Musharraf to step down.

While the killing of Benazir Bhutto is a sharp reminder of the fragile and volatile situation in Pakistan under the dictatorship of Musharraf, Hizb ut Tahrir Britain continues its call for a complete overaul of Pakistan's political system and a new leadership under the Khilafah
  In response to the deterioration of the political situation in Pakistan following the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, Hizb ut Tahrir Britain held an emergency meeting in London this afternoon to discuss the vital changes needed to save Pakistan with the launch of the New Leadership-New System dossier.

Sajjad Khan, member of the National Executive of Hizb ut Tahrir Britain, participated in a live panel discussion on Islam Channel with Ehsan Iqbal (PML-N), Mian Shahid (PPP), Abdul Qayum Butt (PPP), Mussadiq Khan (Tehrik-e-insaaf) on the unfolding political crisis in Pakistan.   At a gathering in Central London of hundreds of Muslims, Mr Asif Khan, the Head of the Pakistan Committee of Hizb ut Tahrir Britain discussed the current political crisis in Pakistan and presented a vision for national reconciliation and progress.

Hundreds of Muslims packed a hall in London for Hizb ut Tahrir's conference -Pakistan - time for a new leadership and new system. Delegates heard from speakers assessing the failed systems of the past and hearing details about a vision for the future based on Islam: the Khilafah.   Hundreds of Muslims including men, women, children and the elderly congregated at the Pakistani High Commission in London to demonstrate angrily at the visit to London of the Pakistani dictator Pervaiz Musharraf.
