Brown threatens Iran to further justify Western interference in the Middle East |

 London, UK, July 21 2008 – In a speech to the Israeli Knesset today, Prime Minister Gordon Brown threatened Iran and pledged ongoing support for Israel’s brutal occupation of Palestine.
He said, "Our country will continue to lead, with the US and our European partners in our determination to prevent an Iranian nuclear weapons programme” and stressed that "Britain and Israel continue to stand together."
Commenting on this, Taji Mustafa, media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "Brown is a successor to Balfour who promised the Zionists the land of Palestine. He continues to legitimise Israel’s brutal occupation and racist apartheid policies, so mutilating the corpse of his government's long since deceased policy of an ethical foreign policy. His scaremongering about Iran’s nuclear program barely conceals his bankrupt agenda of more occupation, more support for dictators, more pillaging of resources and more civilian deaths. At the same time his government has pledged to spend billions of pounds in upgrading Britain’s nuclear weapons system. Brown, like Blair, continues the UK's twin track approach of forced assimilation of Muslims domestically and confrontation internationally, with troops in Basra and Helmand, and continues its appeasement of Israel’s apartheid policies"
"Western leaders find some pretext to occupy the Middle East, regardless of century or decade, whether it was to attack the Ottoman Caliphate, enhance commerce, act against the nationalisation of oil, deal with proxy leaders which have fallen out of favour or counter 'weapons of mass destruction'. The scaremongering about Iran is simply the latest pretext for occupying the Middle East in order to support dictators, control the strategic assets of the region, secure interests and prevent an independent leadership from emerging."
