Despite Musharraf’s resignation, only a change of system can save Pakistan |

 London, UK, August 18 2008 – Today saw the humiliating resignation from the office of President of Pervaiz Musharraf despite his attempts to cling to power.
Following the resignation, both the British and American governments distanced themselves from claims of interference in the internal affairs of Pakitan. Condoleezza Rice said "President Musharraf has been a good ally" but that Washington had disagreed with his decision to declare a state of emergency. The British Foreign Office’s spokesperson on Pakistani affairs said that “Britain was neither meddling in nor trying to dictate the political process in Pakistan”. It is clear to see from the numerous foreign visits alone that the level to which Western governments were complicit, with democrats and dictators alike, in the pain and suffering faced by the people.
Commenting on the day’s events, Taji Mustafa, Media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, “While the people of Pakistan and Muslims all over the world will be glad to see the end of the dictator Musharraf, the problem facing Pakistan is bigger than Musharraf. It is the product of decades of failed capitalist solutions, the failure of democracy and dictatorship, interference by Britain and America and the absence of a sincere competent leadership.”
”Despite the removal of the President there is little prospect of a solution to the problems that Pakistan is facing. With increasing food prices, increasing fuel costs, rapidly diminishing foreign exchange reserves, and a devaluing rupee, the short term prospects for the people look bleak despite the fact that Pakistan has the world’s 2nd largest coal reserves, 5th largest copper and gold reserves, is the 9th largest wheat producer and is the 4th largest milk producer.“
“The coalition government has already shown in its first 100 days that it is an intellectually bankrupt government, full of divisions and has no solution to the problems faced by the people. It was so engrossed in its internal intrigue that it has failed to do anything. Whether the government is a dictatorship or democracy the same failed solutions are applied.”
”The new ‘democratic’ government had clearly already agreed with the American to continue to fight the West’s war on terror and to continue to kill Muslim’s in Pakistan and Afghanistan regardless of the wishes of the people.”
“Only a new politics of solving problems by looking at the Muslim world as a unified whole, based on the Shariah, and implemented as a unified leadership, the Khilafah (Islamic state) would liberate the Muslim world from Western colonialism and deliver true progress and be an example to the failing capitalist democratic regimes around the world. Only the Khilafah would deliver protection to the people and the people have shown in poll after poll that it is the Khilafah that they want.”
