Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain launches ‘Stand For Islam’ mobilisation campaign against attacks on Islam Print E-mail

17 April 2008 - Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain today held a press conference to launch its latest UK based campaign, titled ‘Stand for Islam'. The campaign aims to mobilise Muslim opinion to challenge the vicious media and political onslaught against Islam and Muslims.

Taji Mustafa, UK media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir said after the launch: "The current smears against Islam and the Shariah, the filthy cartoons defaming our beloved Prophet (saw), and the calls in Holland to ban the Quran - are part of the propaganda used as part of the war on Islam, commonly called the war on terror. It is a supremacist war that aims to force one system - capitalism - and secular liberal values on the whole world."

"Our campaign will show the sublime values of Islam and the ability of the Islamic system to solve modern problems. The Muslim world is crying out for Islam, and Hizb ut-Tahrir works globally for the restoration of the Khilafah in the Muslim world. People need to know the real nature of Islam, not the lies pedalled by western politicians and media."

"It is also time to question the capitalist system and the liberal values they want to impose across the world. Those who attack Islam need to do some honest soul searching. When they next attack the hudood punishments they must ask why crime is so rampant in the west. Why do they hypocritically claim free speech as an excuse to abuse Allah's Prophets yet call for the Qur'an to be banned? When they next attack the modesty of Muslim women they must answer why women in the west are forced to fulfil the demands of men's appetites in lad's magazines which dishonour them. They must answer questions about the global financial crisis, family breakdown and the widening poverty gap."

"The true face of European ‘intolerance' has become clear to all. In this hostile climate, it is important that the Muslim Community remain united and respond to these attacks emulating the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). Amongst other things, this campaign will address: how Muslims should respond to such attacks, the intellectual challenge of the Qur'an, how Islam liberates people from the injustices of secularism and colonialism, why the West fears the re-establishment of the Khilafah and how we can best convey the Message of Islam. Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain will be holding a series of seminars, workshops, debates and exhibitions titled Stand for Islam on the key issues being debated here in the West."

Amongst the media outlets that attended were Al-Jazeera, GEO and The Jang.
