Miliband defends Israeli brutality - a true successor to Balfour Print E-mail
Tuesday, 04 March 2008
The statement by the UK Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, on the ongoing violence in Gaza is shameful. In the statement, Miliband, says, "I condemn the rocket attacks against Israel. These are terrorist acts. They should be seen for what they are - an attempt to break the political process by breaking the will of those committed to peace. That cannot be allowed to happen. All sides in the conflict, and the international community, need to judge their actions by the need to keep the political process alive." He goes on to say, "The leadership of the Palestinian Authority need support in their search for peace. I support their work to re-establish control of the Gaza crossings. But I am deeply concerned by the news they have decided to call a halt to negotiations with the Israeli government. These discussions, and swift progress in them, represent the only way of disarming the arguments of the extremists and bringing peace to the region."

Miliband's comments come after the death of over 100 Palestinian civilians in Gaza as a direct result of the Israeli offensive. These civilian deaths followed the threat from the Israeli Deputy Defense Minister, that the people of Gaza faced a 'holocaust'. While Miliband condemns rocket attacks against Israel as 'terrorist acts' he says nothing about the brutality of Israel. He also quite remarkably seeks to compare the deaths of 112 Palestinian civilians at the hands of the Israeli army with the deaths of 3 Israelis. The strongest words are reserved for those who have killed Israelis, while Palestinians are urged to come back to the negotiating table with those who have butchered over 100 civilians in Gaza.

It is rather ironic, but not surprising, that such a stance is taken by Miliband who in a blaze of spin at last year's Labour Party conference suggested that he would take a fresh path from his predecessors, who had promised an 'ethical' foreign policy. Much was made of Miliband's alleged sparring with Blair over his refusal to call for an immediate Israeli cease-fire during attacks on Lebanon in 2006.

Since 1997, Britain has exported over £110 million worth of military equipment to Israel. Supplies have included combat aircraft technology, components for surface-to-surface missiles, armoured cars, machine guns, components for tanks and helicopters, leg irons, tear gas and categories covering mortars, rocket launchers and explosives.

Miliband is merely following in the tradition of former British foreign secretaries who have supported Israel, turned a blind eye to its brutality and surrounded themselves with Arab tyrants who now do not even speak against Israel, let alone dream of reversing its illegal occupation. After all, as a former British foreign secretary, Arthur Balfour, designed the scheme to establish the Israeli entity on the land of Palestine, who better then the current British foreign secretary to defend its brutality?

The Israeli lobby in the UK is becoming stronger by the year. The question is are the Muslims becoming unified towards working for Khilafah or not??

Bilal Patel: Milliband has settler relatives.
Milliband has relatives who are illegal Jewish 'settlers' (colonial thieves) in Occupied Palestine and who he met in Tel Aviv, according to the Jewish Chronicle:

http://www.thejc.com/home.aspx?ParentId=m11&SecId=11&AId=56719&ATypeId=1

Most of his relatives, according to the JC, are Orthodox so simply cannot be written off as economic migrants.

With facts like these, what else is there to say? The Foreign Secretary might as well be a Likud cabinet minister. Milliband's saving grace is that he is not important in the scheme of things.

Irfan Bhatti: The Western Government's Value of Human Life Changes According to Their National Interests!
I think these remarks from David Miliband clearly demonstrate the viewpoint of western secular democratic governments regarding the value of human life, especially a Muslim’s life. They value a person's life according to their foreign policy and their interests.

You can see that in Iraq, Afghanistan, OCCUPIED Palestine etc, hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians have died painful and severe deaths yet there is no condemnation from any of the politicians, rather they are silent. Their silence is due to the single fact that it is in their interests to do whatever it takes to get oil, gas, strategic positions etc.

Innocent lives mean nothing and are not valued because their deaths are what are required to achieve the interests of the nation.

In fact, when asked on US television if Secretary of State Madeleine Albright thought that the death of half a million Iraqi children was a price worth paying, Albright replied: "This is a very hard choice, but we think the price is worth it."

When you compare the condemnation from UK politicians regarding the death of 3 Israelis instead of the 116 deaths of Palestinians you can see that it is in the interests of the Western governments to maintain the existence of Israel even though they are the brutal occupying force. Hence the life of an Israeli will always be worth more than the life of approximately 40 Palestinians.

It is a very twisted set of values that view human life in this manner. I can see now why the western secular governments are so barbaric and brutal in their attitude towards human beings in the Muslim populated countries.

Alhamdulillah, we have the Islamic values demonstrated by the following ayah:

"If any one kills a person, it would be as if he kills the whole people, and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole people." Qur'an, 5:32

Our values are fixed and are not determined by oil, gas and other strategic interests! They are determined by the Creator Allah(swt).

Majiba: OUTRAGEOUS
These are comments are outrageous and bias in the extreme. Mr Milliban is a Jew, but he has to show impartiallity when Israel is the aggressor and has been for decades.

This man is not worthy of the office he holds. He is nothing but an apologist for the Israeli/Zionist madmen.

vitalinks: Ummah has been shackled by the secular powers for too long
Like for like the mandarins of past and present carry on defending Israel, whose very installation as a pariah state through the Balfour declaration stood on the predictions of disunity among Muslims and planned clipping of their wings through ‘never ending’ inter fighting.

Muslims have had enough of your peace process, it is what you need Mr Milliband to safeguard to buy time and we do not need your peace participation while the war between Israel and Palestine rages on. Your time is over. It is about time the PA and the Muslims of the world realise to call off your help and united themselves to bring the obligated Shield – Khilafah we fight behind.

With no shame, Britain and America stood joined hands with intent of callous inhuman usurpation of Palestinian land and dispossession of Millions. Your treacherous peace process never came to hold.

By invading Iraq, UK/US gained foothold in the Islamic world to secure vital resources unchallenged. In the past west relied on their pampered agents in the region are no longer certain of their capability to deliver. They may have become too weak in the face of restlessness of the Ummah; they feel threatened because they rule by what Allah SWT has forbidden. Hence their security cannot be ensured.

Khalid Khan: Milliband and Britain are not concerned for innocent life.
Once again muslim blood is spilt like water flowing down a river. This is blatant terrorism on behalf of Israel. One hundred plus Palestinians dead and with only 3 Israeli killed. Then Milliband has the audacity to state the Palestines are hindering negotiations between the Palestinian authority and the Israeli state.

It is not surprising at all Milliband has kept quiet over Israels actions in the Gaza strip. Britains arms deals numbering over 100 million could rock angloisraeli export relations.

So capitalists nations like Britain are more concerned about their economic interests than the death of innocent civillians. So what is a hundred innocent lifes. After all Britain was one of the chief instigators to invade Iraq and kill 650 thousand innocent people.
