We, the Muslims of Britain:
1. Condemn Pervez Musharraf for dishonouring Pakistan by calling for a state of Emergency in order to cling onto power and continue to serve US interests. We condemn the arrest, detention and curbing of legitimate political activism. His position as Head of State, President or Head of the Armed forces is untenable and he must GO.
2. Oppose Musharraf's policy of killing in Waziristan, the Northern Areas, the instability within Baluchistan, and the other provinces. They are a direct outcome of Musharraf's betrayal and continued subservience to Bush's war on Terror. His policies have brought death, destruction and misery on an unprecedented level in Pakistan's history and are threatening its break up. Musharraf is responsible for the utter chaos in Pakistan, the growing violence and sectarianism.
3. Believe that Benazir Bhutto's return is not about strengthening Pakistan, but giving a life-line to Musharaff. This "arranged marriage" between a ruthless dictator and a corrupt ‘democrat' has been orchestrated by Washington and London to continue their colonial hold over Pakistan. Replacing one corrupt face by another will not bring about real change. Real change will not come unless there is a wholesale change in the prevailing system.
4. Such a change can only come by establishing the just political system based upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saw) i.e. the Khilafat state, independent from the colonialists control, where men and women's education is guaranteed, where a truly independent judiciary exists, where industrialisation of the economy will occur, and where poverty will be properly tackled. We support Hizb-ut-Tahrir's movement for the establishment of the Khilafat state in Pakistan.
