Ending Occupation: The Only Way Forward For Iraq and the Middle East Tuesday, 06 March 2007 Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain’s international conference and report on the Iraq Occupation and a way forward for the region FRIDAY 30TH MARCH 2007, Doors open 6pm Starts 7pm FRIENDS HOUSE  EUSTON ROAD LONDON WC1 Nearest Underground Euston Square On the fourth anniversary of the war, Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain will publish a report on the Iraq occupation, western foreign policy in the wider region, and a suggested way forward for the Muslim world. A conference, to launch this detailed report, will call for: o    Withdrawal from Iraq and an end to warmongering in the wider region. Bush has sent more troops to Iraq in an attempt to bring 'stability' to the region. A troop surge will encourage resistance as in Vietnam and further destabilise iraq. The occupation forces have fueled sectarianism and have lost all moral credibility through the abuses they have committed. The rhetoric against Iran bears striking similarities to the build up to the Iraq war. The only solution that will lead to stability is a total withdrawal and an end to U.S. led warmongering. o    End to colonial exploitation, dominance and support for dictators The Iraq Study Group agreed with the strategy of continued US interference in the region only disagreeing with the execution of this by the Bush administration. The US and its allies cannot continue to believe that oil, nuclear power and other valuable commodities are their exclusive right. Their support for oppressive dictators, whose rule would otherwise collapse, proves they have no desire to help the region, only to control and exploit. When attempting to dictate energy or defence policy in Iran, they threaten to continue to destabilise the region and the world, proving their aims remain the same o    Building a secure future for the region based upon Islam and the interests of the people The report concludes with some practical recommendations on how real security, stability and prosperity can be obtained by establishing an Islamic system in the troubled region. The people of the Muslim world want a secure and just future based upon a system that emanates from their beliefs and traditions. At a time when western governments malign Islam,  it is vital to explain how Islam is increasingly seen as the only solution for the Middle East and the Muslim world.
