Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh demands the arrests of the publisher and the editor of Daily Prothom Alo for publishing insulting cartoons of prophet Muhammad (saw)
Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh organised a demonstration today 19/09/07, outside the national mosque against the publishing of cartoons insulting the prophet Muhammad (saw) in their weekly magazine. The cartoons defamed Muhammad (saw) by adding his name to an animal. Several hundred people attended the demonstration led by central leaders of the party. Deputy Spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh, Kazi Murshedul Haque addressed the crowd. In his speech he said “Since its inception the Prothom Alo has always campaigned against Islam and Islamic movements serving the interests of their imperialist masters. Through publishing these cartoons, they have gone one step further by openly joining forces with the Western crusaders who are repeatedly targeting the aqeeda of the Muslims.”
Despite protests from the Muslims of Bangladesh in this blessed month
of Ramadhan the editor Matiur Rahman and publisher Mahfuz Anam have not
yet accepted responsibility for their heinous crime. Instead, they
have been shrewdly shifting blame on junior staff members. Therefore,
the Muslims of Bangladesh will not rest until these two criminals
receive exemplary punishment. Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh will lead the
people in their struggle to protect their aqeeda and the honour of the
noble
prophet (saw).
Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh demands that:
1. The government immediately arrests and punishes the editor and publisher of Prothom Alo
2. To stop the publication of the Daily Prothom Alo
To achieve these demands, Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh announces the following protest activities:
1. Demonstrations across Dhaka city after Asr prayers on Thursday 20th September
2. Protest march towards the central office of the Daily Prothom Alo on Friday 21st September after Jummah prayers
Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh urges the people of Bangladesh to participate
in these activities defending the honour of their beloved prophet
Muhammad (saw).
