The Stand for Islam Campaign: Tooting, South London.
As part of the national "Stand for Islam" campaign, which has been launched in response to repeated recent attacks upon Islam across Europe, Hizb ut Tahrir Britain, the Islamic political party, held one of a series of events at Bina Hall in Tooting, South London on Sunday 1st June. Up to a hundred members of the local community attended the event entitled 'Calls to Ban the Quran - How should Muslims respond', including professionals, community elders and local youth.
Speaker, Kasim Khawja, member of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, gave a powerful presentation on the sustained attacks on Islam from various quarters including the media, politicians, and most recently the Bishop of Rochester Michael Nazir Ali. The address included details how the Muslim community can take positive steps to defend Islam using debate and discussion and engaging with the wider community.
In the Q&A session there was active participation from audience as to the practical actions individuals can undertake to ‘Stand for Islam’ and portray Islam’s message to the wider society.
