London 26th Jan 2008 - Hundreds of men and women gathered outside the Pakistan High Commission in London for a protest organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, and later moved outside the luxury Dorchester hotel where the dictator of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf was staying during his European trip. The crowd was addressed by Dr Imran Waheed, media spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir, Britain, Nadeem Ajaib, and Mehboob Shah. They addressed the betrayal of Pakistan under Musharraf in terms of security for the people, the outsourcing of its sovereignty to western colonial powers, the neglect of the economy causing record food prices, long queues for flour, and frequent power cuts for millions of people.
The hosting of Pakistan's tyrant dictator by the British goverment, who censors criticism and crushes opposition with an iron grip, was condemned, highlighting the contradiction between the rhetoric and reality on issues of 'human rights'.
The speakers illustrated how the Islamic Khilafah system would provide a real alternative for people in Pakistan, securing sovereignty for Islam and away from western colonial powers, restoring political authority to the people, and dealing with poverty and Pakistan's energy problems.
Finally, a letter was delivered to the embassy, addressing Musharraf and giving him notice of continued vocal opposition to his tyranny, and that of any who may follow him. Pictures of the demonstration are shown below.
