Hizb ut-Tahrir leader to debate at the Oxford Union
London, UK, April 24 2007 – Jamal Harwood, Chairman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain's Executive Committee will be debating at the renowned Oxford Union on Thursday 26th April at 8:30pm. Hizb ut-Tahrir [the Liberation Party] is an Islamic political organisation active in over forty countries in the Muslim world.
The debate will examine the global effects of the values and policies of the United States of America. Other participants will include: Peter Rodman (Former US Assistant Sec of Defence), Matt Frei (BBC Washington correspondent) and Jonah Goldberg (National Review).
Jamal will critique current American foreign policy in light of its historical pledge to confront colonialism. He will argue that despite the ideals promoted by the Founding Fathers, America has proceeded in the world emulating the approach of European colonialism. Today America no longer stands as a beacon but as a world hegemon.
