London, UK, November 16 – At mosques across the UK tomorrow [November
17th], Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, the Islamic political party, will
distribute tens of thousands of copies of a new leaflet entitled "The
BBC slander of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain is just the latest of many
attacks Muslims will face in this propaganda campaign". The new leaflet
explains how the sensational and fictitious allegations about Hizb
ut-Tahrir made by the BBC in recent broadcasts on TV and radio are part
of a wider propaganda campaign facing the Muslim community.
Explaining the motives behind this campaign, the leaflet states, "The real context is that Bush and Blair’s Iraq policy is in meltdown. Afghanistan is still in chaos. The general public are against these wars. In the USA, Bush has suffered a massive electoral collapse due to Iraq. The Labour government, beset by leadership rivalry, fear the same in next year’s local elections. Furthermore politicians from all sides compete with each other to appear tough on security issues at the expense of a besieged Muslim community. They have tried to distract everyone from the real issues with this propaganda and blame Muslims to save their own cowardly necks."
In the leaflet Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain urges the Muslim community to challenge the propaganda campaign; "Faced with this abuse from the government and its media spin machine, there is only one path that all of us need to follow. We must work to overcome this propaganda against Islam, the Caliphate and Shariah that has become a means to distract people from the disasters of Iraq and Afghanistan, and a means to justify more intervention. We need to look at the methods they use in the media and expose their motives, lies and hypocrisy – as well as to expose their injustices here and overseas. We should reach out to those many non Muslims here who are seriously confused by the propaganda. We should explain Islam to them, and the Caliphate, so they realise that this is what ordinary decent people the world over yearn for, to liberate the Muslim world from dictatorship, tyranny and occupation."
