Open Debate: Should Hizb ut-Tahrir be Proscribed?

London, UK, September 18 – Dr Imran Waheed, Media Representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, will participate in an open debate entitled "Should Hizb ut-Tahrir be Proscribed?" at the Foreign Press Association in London this Wednesday [21st September 2005]. The debate is being jointly sponsored by Prospect Magazine and New Civilisation Magazine and will examine the questions that have arisen about political expression in the light of the proposed ban of the non-violent Islamic political party, Hizb ut-Tahrir. The event will be chaired by the Editor of Prospect Magazine, David Goodhart.

The other panellists will be Professor A C Grayling, Professor of Philosophy at Birkbeck College, and Ehsan Masood, a journalist and project director of the Gateway Trust.

The debate will take place at 7 p.m. [doors open 6.30 p.m.] on Wednesday 21st September 2005 at the Foreign Press Association, 11 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5AJ [nearest tube: Charing Cross].
