London UK, 18th September 2009 – Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain today organised a demonstration against President Zardari’s speech at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London. The warm reception for President Asif Zardari once again shows the close relationship between the West and the corrupt and illegitimate rulers in the Muslim world.
While Pakistan faces momentous challenges, Zardari’s IISS address – “Pakistan: Strategic Challenges & Opportunities” – merely repeated the tired slogans that earn praise from his western masters whilst doing little to address people’s problems in Pakistan.
Taji Mustafa, media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain said: “While the people of Pakistan suffer power outages, high food prices and deaths in a stampede for flour in Karachi, Zardari jets around western capitals pledging support for their war on terror and colluding with US drone attacks that regularly kill many."
“His regime is simply the latest incarnation in a continued cycle of democracy, corruption, dictatorship and foreign interference that continues to ravage Pakistan. As long as western states continue to back despised rulers like Zardari, the Muslim world will continue to suffer.”
“Pakistan needs a new leadership and new system. It is only an Islamic Khilafah state that will offer a system of government where rulers do not rule in the interests of Britain, the United States or their own bank accounts, but in the interests of their people – giving Islamic solutions to the many human problems the people in Pakistan and the wider region face.”
