Protest outside Bangladesh Embassy against the Unjust Arrests of Hizb ut-Tahrir Members
Hundreds gathered outside the Bangladesh Embassy today protesting against the arrests of a number of Hizb ut-Tahrir members simply for calling the Muslims to re-establish the Islamic ruling system, the Khilafah. The protest was introduced by Nuafal Zamir, prominent businessman and active member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, with a brief summary explaining how a leaflet asking the Muslims to unite and establish the Khilafah led to a negative and malicious media campaign in Rajshahi. Consequently members of Hizb ut-Tahrir organised a perfectly legal press conference to counter these false attacks but as they approached the press club, the local police force arrested them.
Mujibul Islam, Bangla Media Representative, and Nazmul Hoque, senior member of Bangladesh Committee Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, explained how the growing demand for Khilafah has spread far and wide, and the arrests are proof that those who wish to prevent this work are attempting to hamper its return. Liakot Shorkar, Khatib and assistant Bangla Media Representative, gave assurance that Hizb ut-Tahrir will continue to strive hard in fulfilling the command of Allah (swt) by establishing the Khilafah and elevating the Muslim Ummah again from the depths of sufferings and humiliations.
Taji Mustafa, Spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, highlighted how the popularity for the Khilafah amongst the Ummah globally has put the governments in the Muslim world into desperation. Under the influence of their imperialist masters like the U.S. and Britain, these governments will continue to put obstacles after obstacles to prevent the return of the Khilafah. He urged the Muslims in UK to stay firm and encouraged them to support our brothers and sisters in the Muslim world by continuing to defend Islam in the West and speak out against the injustices of our governments such as these arrests. Taji Mustafa concluded with a list of 3 demands:
1. The immediate release of those arrested in Bangladesh;
2. An end to the U.S., Indian and British interference in our political affairs;
3. That Hizb ut-Tahrir’s work in Bangladesh is allowed to continue unimpeded. Calling for the re-establishment of the Khilafah system is the only way to solve the many economic, social and political problems plaguing Bangladesh, It is also an Islamic obligation and the system that was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) which united and elevated the Muslim world for over 1300 years;
