The warmonger Blair cannot bring peace to the Middle East
London, UK, June 27th 2007 – Commenting on the announcement that Tony Blair will become the Quartet's Middle East envoy, Dr Imran Waheed, media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "Over one billion Muslims around the world and millions of non-Muslims will find it remarkable that Tony Blair, the warmonger of Iraq and Afghanistan, whose hands are soiled with the blood of over 650,000 civilians, is being tasked with bringing peace to the Middle East. This is the same Blair who just a year ago remained silent at Israel's brutal onslaught on civilians in Lebanon and its displacement of over half a million civilians from their homes. This is the same Blair who has increased the sales of weapons to Israel and at the time of Israel's assault on Lebanon called for an international 'peace' force to protect Israel."
"Is it not the case that from the crime of usurping the land of Palestine to create the Israeli state, to the present day, Western intervention in the region has been an abject failure? Is it not the case that Western intervention failed to address the real grievances of the Muslim world and failed to establish peace, tranquillity and security in the region? Is it not time to look for an alternative to Bush and Blair's liberal imperialism that props up brutal dictators and despots while exploiting the resources of the Muslim world? Is it not time for people in the West to question the militancy of western foreign policy across the globe and the continued interference in the affairs of the Muslim world?"
