The campaign of extermination of Muslims in CAR
The Muslims are facing another calamity and evil in the Central African Republic (CAR) as militia groups and security forces have joined hands to rid the land of Muslims and any trace of Islam, despite the Muslims and Islam having roots there for over 1000 years. According to the recent report by Amnesty International militia attacks have led to a “Muslim exodus of historic proportions”.
There are reports of killing, mutilating and even cannibalism of Muslims. The BBC reported on 13/1/14 that, “A Muslim man had been murdered here a few days ago, by Christians. His limbs were hacked off. Then one of the crowd ate the flesh in a public demonstration of cannibalism.”
There are hundreds of images that have been taken and are available on social media that show the murder of the Muslims, the buses of fleeing Muslims emptied and the passengers all massacred, mosques being demolished and the Quran being held high in front of the cameras whilst being burnt. Not unsurprisingly Amnesty International claimed that these atrocities have been perpetrated under the “acquiesce” of International ‘peacekeeping’ forces.
The CAR is a small country, it has a 4 million population, the Muslims number more than 15% and it is one of the weakest and poorest countries in the world. So the question is how can such a small weak land so openly dare to commit such atrocities against the Muslims and Islam whilst the Muslim Ummah is the largest Ummah in the world, it possesses most of the world’s natural resources and wealth, and has armies and military many times larger than any other nation in the world?
The answer to this is simple and it is the same answer to why the Muslims in Burma have been slaughtered and forced from their homes and the same reason why any state in the world can do whatever it likes to Muslims and not fear any consequences from anybody or any power.
The Messenger (saw) said: “Verily the Imam is a shield. He is fought behind and you find protection in him”. (Saheeh Muslim).
The massacres against Muslims taking place in CAR as well as other places around the world underline the dire need for the Khilafah. For nearly a century the Muslim Ummah has been without an Imam, shield and protector. Muslim lands have been divided, after being colonised by Western powers, leaving them with systems, culture and rulers who would act on the behalf of foreign interests rather than in the interest of justice upon the commands of Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saw).
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “The believers, in their love, mutual kindness, and close ties, are like one body; when any part complains, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever” (Muslim).
Indeed it is easy for Muslims living in the West to become detached from the problems facing the Ummah internationally. However we must not let the love of this world nor the relative comforts of our lives distract us away from our Ummah and our duty towards her. Charity is a noble and greatly rewarded action but it will not solve the problem facing the Muslims of CAR. Essentially it is a political problem requiring a State to enact political solutions. Our duty is to raise this concern collectively making Muslims appreciate they are part of a collective Ummah, explaining the importance of Islam as a political solution to the dire situation we face globally and giving confidence in the return of the Khilafah. By being part of the intellectual and political movement upon the method of the Prophet (saw)who established the first Islamic State in Madinah, we can be part of the work to bring about the re-establishment of the Khilafah, by the permission of Allah (swt), within the Muslim world and thereby practically protect the Muslims of CAR and elsewhere.
