‘Thousands’ of pornographic images were found on the computer of Damian Green- the Prime Minister’s deputy in charge.
Only the last Cabinet Office inquiry began investigating allegations that he had made inappropriate advances to a political activist, amongst his other sordid habits.
The inquiry is believed to centre on the ministerial code, which sets out the ‘standards of conduct’ expected of government ministers.
The fact is that Damian Green is part of a society where pornography and the degradation of women is common place. Therefore, it is no surprise that within the House of Commons itself, there are male senior ministers who engage in filth to entertain themselves.
This is not just a problem of ministers in Whitehall, but a western societal problem. However just focusing in the House of Commons, in 2012 more than 300,000 attempts were made to access pornographic websites, official records suggested.
About 5,000 people work on the parliamentary estate.
The data was released following a Freedom of Information request by Huffington Post UK, which published the story with the headline Oh Yes, Minister!
It is surely the time to examine the standards of conduct in western society and their value system, rather than just focusing on the entrenched behaviour of government officials.
