Muslims in Bradford convened at the Ronak Banqueting Hall on Friday evening 1st April to participate in an event organised by members of Hizb ut-Tahrir on the current uprisings in the Muslim world. The event was titled the ‘Islamic Awakenings in the Muslim world, our role and responsibility’. The speaker was Prof. Mohammed Nawaz who spoke of the failure of western solutions – democratic change/reform – promoted by the likes of the UN/NATO to solve our problems. He explained the UN has no credibility left after the Iraq war and the colonisation of the Muslim world by foreign powers – their track record remains of intervention.
He elaborated the motives for western powers to militarily intervene in Libya but not in Yemen, Bahrain and the rest of the Muslim world; due to energy resources and the fragility of the regime to stand up to a wave of Islamic sentiments. He further explained the nature of the real solution to the problems in the Muslim world – the comprehensive implementation of the Islamic political system ie the Khilafah state and its details: how it would function; its relations with the Muslim world; its currency etc. Prof. Nawaz encouraged young and the old to contribute to this work by engaging people by all means to spread the correct Islamic solution and to work for this change. The event finished with Dua (prayer) to ask Allah (swt) to help those who are working for His Deen and give us Nussrah (support).
