On the 24th of December 2011, the Muslims of central London gathered to ponder and reflect on the Quran and to learn some important lessons. Alhamdulillah the event was a success with over 250 attendees.
The chairperson for the day was Ustadh Saffaruk Choudhury, who is a Hanafi Fiqh teacher, and a prolific speaker and writer. In introducing the event, he spoke about the great blessings in gathering to remember Allah (swt) and his Dhikr i.e. the Quran.
Then followed a beautiful Qur’an recitation by Imam Qaiser, a graduate from ‘Muhammad ibn Saud’ university in Saudi Arabia.
The first speaker was Mufti Ihsan Ahmed, who spoke about the Creating the Quranic Character.
The second speaker was Ustadh Kamal Abu Zahrah, who is completing his PhD on Fiqh of Minorities. He spoke about the Miracle of the Quran.
Then we had brother Abdul Kareem from Denmark, who is a convert to Islam. He shared with the audience his journey to Islam and how the intellectual proofs of Islam such as the miracle of the Quran convinced him that this deen is the Truth.
Umar al-Afghani, who is a Tajweed Teacher, recited some amazing verses from Surah Ar-Rahman.
The final speaker was Ustadh Dr Abu Luqman, who is the author of ‘The Sixty Sultaniyyah’ a very relevant book in our times. He spoke about how the Qur’an needs to be implemented in all aspects of our lives from our individual prayers to establishing the Islamic ruling system.
