Hizb ut-Tahrir strongly condemns the abduction of its deputy spokesman

14 July 2011– Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain sent a delegation to the Pakistan High Commission to meet the High Commissioner Mr Wajid Shamsul Hassan in order to demand an explanation as to why Pakistan’s Deputy Spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Pakistan, Imran Yousafzai has been abducted without any due process. Hizb ut-Tahrir in Britain strongly condemns the abduction of Imran Yousafzai and demands his immediate release by Pakistan’s rulers. Imran Yousafzai was abducted when he was ambushed by government thugs as he went to a journalist’s residence to give a TV interview. This latest abduction of a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir by Pakistan’s rulers is a desperate attempt to silence the party from carrying out its political work in Pakistan. It follows on from the abduction of Engineer Aftab from Multan several weeks ago whose whereabouts still remain unknown. These abductions follow a recent campaign of intimidation by Pakistan’s rulers who have arrested and threatened the families of party workers with raids on their homes, terrorising their womenfolk and children all in a bid to silence the work of Hizb ut-Tahrir.

These abductions have been carried out on instruction from America as it fears real political change in Pakistan. All of this display of force by Pakistan’s rulers follows their latest round of humiliation at the hands of their true masters in Washington. Despite having $800 million cut from their annual American aid, ISPR spokesperson Major General Athar Abbas pledged that the Pakistan Army would continue with its operations in the tribal areas. This was followed by a statement issued after the 140th corps commanders meeting presided over by General Ashfaq Kayani in which they pledged to continue fighting America’s ‘War on Terror’ using Pakistan’s own resources. This too on a day when American drone strikes killed another 52 people in the tribal areas. Zardari-Giliani-Kayani act like lions in front of their own people but cower in front of the Americans. This is the true hallmark of a cowardly regime which has lost all legitimacy to rule over its people.

Hizb ut-Tahrir challenges Pakistan’s rulers to present these abducted members of Hizb ut-Tahrir in a court of law and to present their evidence on which they are being held. Indeed we know that this will never happen because Pakistan’s rulers have no evidence which is why they resort to extra-judicial arrests for which they are infamous because of the barbarians that they really are. These rulers hate that Hizb ut-Tahrir speaks the truth so that their blood boils with rage whilst they release the likes of Raymond Davis so that the CIA can carry on with its covert operations inside Pakistan.

The work of Hizb ut-Tahrir has never been silenced nor stopped by anyone since the party’s inception in 1953 and it never will, until the Caliphate is restored. Indeed the members of Hizb ut-Tahrir have borne some of the worst brutality and torture that a man can inflict on a fellow man at the hands of the Western backed despotic regimes such as in Egypt, Syria and Uzbekistan that rule the Muslim world today. It is a true measure of defeat that Pakistan’s rulers have to resort to such brutal tactics because their policies and political values have failed to convince the people of Pakistan of their democratic ideals. The call for Islam and the Caliphate resonate throughout the Muslim world today including Pakistan because the hearts and minds of the Muslims globally are responding and accepting this irresistible call.

Hizb ut-Tahrir warns the cowardly rulers in Pakistan, both in the civilian and military leadership that we hold you directly responsible for the safety and wellbeing of Imran Yousafzai and the others whom you have abducted. Do not think for one moment that we will forget your violent brutality as you sell yourselves to America. Your actions are testament that the re-establishment of the Caliphate is very near as the Zardari-Giliani-Kayani regime faces collapse. Indeed when it is re-established, the Caliph and his administration will hold each and every one of you to account for each of your excesses.

The time has come for the Muslims of Pakistan to realise that the many hardships that they face including electricity load-shedding, price inflation and economic poverty, crime and insecurity, increasing American attacks, killing of innocent civilians in Karachi, all of this stems from this corrupt and rotten system which has no consideration for their welfare whatsoever. The time has come for the people to move and focus their energy on the singular agenda of removing this tyrannical secular system once and for all and establishing the Khilafat.
