London UK Saturday 18th February 2012 – Thousands of men, women and children from across the UK marched in the heart of London’s Arab community, down Edgware Road to the Syrian Embassy, in a demonstration organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir, Britain.
The demonstrators were showing their support for those bravely rising up against the tyrannical Syrian regime and calling for the removal of the corrupt and oppressive system ruling over the people. They also opposed Western interference in the Muslim world, where the Assad regime has been supported for decades. They also opposed attempts to inflame sectarian tensions – which plays into the hands of this brutal regime. They called upon the sincere people in the armed forces to withdraw their support from the Assad regime, and to support the establishment of a system that ensures accountability, transparency and justice for all the people – the Islamic Khilafah (Caliphate) state.
Speakers on the day included Dr Yusuf Abul Harith, Muhammad Ons Chafai and Dr Rida Abu Luqman.
Banners and slogans included: “No Nationalism or Patriotism, We Want the Islamic Khilafah.” and “O Bashar O coward, with the ummah we will stand”.
The peaceful protest ended with duas asking for Allah’s Help to remove the corrupt and tyrant rulers across the Muslim world and to replace them with a just Islamic ruler and the Islamic Khilafah system.
