Seeking inspiration from the life of the Companions of the Prophet (saw)
Over 200 people attended a community event in Slough on Sunday the 1st of January 2012 organised by local members of Hizb-ut-Tahrir. The event was aimed at reminding the local community of some of the examples in Islamic history and how we can emulate them if we base our identities upon the Islamic ideology alone.
Yahya Abu Yousuf delivered the first speech on the life of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (ra). Yahya reminded the audience of the closeness Abu Bakr ra had to the Prophet saw, how Abu Bakr ra would rush to implement the Quran in his life and the leadership Abu Bakr ra showed at after the death of the Prophet saw when he reminded the Muslims that it was on obligation to have one leader to rule the Muslim Ummah by the Quran and Sunnah.
Abu Luqman Fathullah delivered the second speech on the life of Umar Ibn Al Khattab. Abu Luqman reminded the audience and particularly the youth, about how Umar ra was before he embraced Islam and how the youth should never lose hope and always strive adhere to the Quran and Sunnah in all matters. He also described some of the qualities Umar (ra) had as a Khaleefah and how we need a Khaleefah to lead the Muslim Ummah today.
The event was concluded with dua from the Imam of the local Masjid.
