On Sunday 24th October 2010, a large number of Muslims in Slough, Berkshire gathered to hear about Hizb ut-Tahrir’s ‘Save Pakistan Establish Khilafah’ campaign. The event is part of a national campaign to build opinion for the Khilafah as the only alternative to Pakistan’s problems and to mobilise Muslims to support Hizb ut Tahrir’s work for the re-establishment of the Khilafah ruling system in Pakistan.
The audience watched a video message from Naveed Butt, spokesperson of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Pakistan, in which he urged Muslims in the UK to use their contacts, links and voices to build opinion for the Khilafah system as the change that Pakistan needs.
Dr Abdul Wahid, chairman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain’s Executive Committee talked of the problems facing Pakistan and reminded the gathering of the many practical actions they should undertake in support of this campaign. This includes contacting and conveying the campaign’s messages to relatives in Pakistan, and attending seminars, demonstrations and many other actions. In his speech, local community leader Imam Qaiser said the current system produces leaders subservient to the west such as Nawaz Shariff, Pervez Musharraf and Zardari and that Pakistan’s “fires” could only be extinguished by changing the system. Rizwan Hussain from Hizb ut-Tahrir’s Pakistan Committee joined the panel for a lively question and answer session which tackled many questions regarding the hizb’s work in Pakistan, the uniqueness of its Islamic political program and its detailed solutions for the problems facing Pakistan and the Muslim ummah. Delegates pledged to support the work of the hizb and to engage in the various political actions in the coming weeks as part of this ‘Save Pakistan Establish Khilafah Campaign’.
