Sara Khan’s Report on Extremism is Like Johnson’s Proroguing Parliament

True to their operating mandate, the government’s Commission for Countering Extremism has produced a new report filled with divisive propaganda, whose goal can only be to shut down debate and prevent thinking, lest people start to adopt Islamic ideas that the liberal political elite are utterly intolerant of.

It is no secret that all Muslims hold onto basic human values that protect their families and society from such abuse, hence it is not surprising that we in Hizb ut-Tahrir are at the forefront of encouraging the Muslim community to adhere to the noble beliefs of Islam, regardless of policies, papers or reports that try to silence the community.

The label of hate used in this report is nothing more than what Boris Johnson did by proroguing Parliament. When you can’t take on a debate, shut it down, by any means necessary. This is such a tired tactic of the political elite that it’s become as laughable as Brexit.

If there was any genuine concern for the well-being of children, Sara Khan should focus on allowing children to be children: not as financial and political commodities at the hands of the perverse exploiters in government, the media and fashion houses, who are obsessed with making millions out of sexualising the young. Their liberal ideology has them trapped in a corner, despite it being blatantly wrong for all to see.

Maybe the government should push its commission to produce a report on how liberal extremism is increasing child abuse, ignoring of childhood mental illness, and what alcohol, drugs, and domestic and gang violence can do to children’s well-being!

The Muslim community suffers no such confusion about objectification, sexuality and gender, as our Islamic values are not ambiguous. Hence, enslavement to the permissive liberal ideology is a red line which is not disputed by any Muslim group, whether spiritual, political or charitable.

Islamic values allow children to enjoy their childhood playing together, enjoying sports while feeling safe and secure, not vulnerable to the rampant child abuse that pervades British society today. Sticking to the normative Islamic opinion on protecting children from inappropriate sex education at a young age will allow children to be children, safe from the exploitation that politicians, twisted ideologues and capitalist businesses crave. Yet Sara Khan’s band of secular apologists seek only to shut down this kind of discussion in exactly the same way that Boris Johnson attempted to shut down debate about Brexit by proroguing Parliament.

The failure of the capitalist economic system has become apparent to all, and the people of the so-called “third world” have seen through the devious plot to use the fantasy of democracy to lure them into further oppression and subservience to the Western powers. The veil has been lifted and the brand of the Western secular colonial project has become irrevocably damaged, such that it cannot compete intellectually with the Islamic alternative ideology that is on people’s lips, the world over.

This is the context in which this report has been stitched together, despite its inconsistent logic and deeply hypocritical assertions. By labelling any Muslim who exposes the dangerous secular liberal values, as a hateful extremist, it reveals the authors’ inability to provide reasoned argument to justify such ideas. As a result, they resort to shouting out their opposition with meaningless accusations and labels, displaying the very hate that they claim to oppose.

The most irrational intolerant hate peddlers are the authors of this report and the callous individuals in government who they seek to protect. This is despite these politicians being responsible for the death and destruction of millions of lives overseas, alongside the misery they impose upon the people in Britain. Their hostile immigration policies, their promotion of irresponsible individualism, and their neglect for basic rights of families and children have turned Britain into a dystopian war zone where all parents know their children are not safe from the horrors of violence, addiction, abuse and even murder.

Far from being an ideology of hate or a community of extremists, Islam and the Muslims who follow it are rational and just. Our opposition to secularism and its liberal values and capitalist ideology are borne out of compassion for humanity and a desire to warn the people of its danger, offering them a better alternative way of life.

Sadly the authors of the Commission for the Countering Extremism report, being apologists for the muscular liberal extremists that they are, respond only with diversionary tactics to help the oppressors to continue unchallenged.

“And of the people is he who buys the distraction of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment. And when our verses are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly as if he had not heard them, as if there was in his ears deafness. So give him tidings of a painful punishment” [Luqman: 6-7].
