2.jpgHizb ut-Tahrir Britain demonstrates outside Bangladesh high commission to demand the release of Mohiuddin Ahmed

London UK, 22nd April 2010 – Many Muslim men and women gathered today outside the Bangladesh High Commission to protest against the unjustified arrest of Asst. Prof. Mohiuddin Ahmed, spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh and his deputy, Kazi Murshedul Huq, by the Awami League government. The demonstration was addressed by Nazmul Haque (Chairman Bangla committee, Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain), Taji Mustafa (media representative Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain) and chaired by Liakot Sarkar.

Addressing the gathering, Nazmul Haque condemned the recent arrest of Mohiuddin Ahmed and Kazi Murshedul Huq by the US-Indian puppet government of Sheikh Hasina, and said that the government has fabricated cases against Mohiuddin Ahmed despite the fact that they had him under house arrest for six months, during which police guarded his front door and the locality preventing him from leaving his home. Now these lying oppressors are alleging that he organized the activities of Hizb-ut-Tahrir even though they confiscated his phone and computer, cutting off all his means of communication. Furthermore, these tyrants did not even allow him to leave his house to visit his baby daughter in hospital without armed police around him. During this whole time they did not even claim to have a single piece of evidence against him in support of their false accusation. Hence it now resorts to fabrication and drama. This clearly demonstrates that such governments cannot be trusted; they are tyrants and should be removed immediately.

The real reason for arresting Mohiuddin Ahmed, Kazi Murshedul Huq and other activists of the party is because Hizb ut-Tahrir is openly and bravely exposing the malicious plans of the Sheikh Hasina government and her imperialist masters, US-India-UK. This can be seen from the recent protest campaign by the party against the planned US military exercise, ‘Tiger Shark-2’ which will take place in late May, and the government’s failure to solve the electricity, gas and water crisis.

Taji Mustafa, in his speech said that the Awami League government has joined the crusade with US-India-UK in their vicious war against Islam and the Muslims. The desperate measures taken by the government are a sign of their weakness and a fallacy of their so called democracy. The Awami League government with the US fears the rise of Islam and the establishment of the Islamic Khilafah State hence it is actively working to silence the sincere da’wah carriers and politicians of Hizb ut-Tahrir.

Both speakers concluded by demanding the immediate release of Mohiuddin Ahmed, Kazi Murshedul Huq and all arrested party activists. They also urged the people to work with Hizb ut-Tahrir in resisting the Awami-US-India plan for Bangladesh.

Finally, a delegation from the party handed a letter to the high commissioner condemning the arrest of Mohiuddin Ahmed, Kazi Murshedul Huq and its activists, and demanded their immediate release. The delegation consisted of Nazmul Haque, Taji Mustafa, and Solicitor Abdul Kuddus.
