London, UK, January 30 – Tonight's statement by the Mid-East Quartet meeting in London ties future aid to the Palestinians to the "recognition of Israel and acceptance of previous agreements and obligations, including the roadmap".
Commenting on the statement by the Quartet, Dr Imran Waheed, a media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "In making aid conditional on the recognition of an illegal and oppressive occupation, the Mid-East Quartet has illustrated that aid from Western governments is used to further their foreign policy interests, rather than improve the lives of the oppressed and impoverished. How can they expect there to be peace in the region when Israel continues its brutal occupation and destroys the lives of Palestinians?"
"The results of the recent elections in Palestine are yet another evidence of the desire of Muslims to be ruled over by Islam and not corrupt secular politicians. They come in the wake of a resurgence of support for Islamic parties in Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Central Asia and Pakistan."
"For centuries, Jews, Muslims and Christians lived side by side in peace under the justice of the Islamic Caliphate. Hizb ut-Tahrir continues to work through peaceful political means to establish the Islamic Caliphate in the Muslim world. The Islamic Caliphate will end the era of unelected dictators and tyrants and establish a society where Jews, Muslims and Christians of the region will live in peace under the just laws of Islam."
