London, UK, January 10th 2008 – The media circus surrounding Bush’s visit to occupied Palestine may have presented it as a push for peace but it has not hidden his shameful endorsement of brutal Israeli apartheid and direct US military intervention to bolster Israel’s security. Upon arrival, Bush said that the US’s alliance with Israel helps "guarantee Israel’s security as a Jewish state."
Commenting on the visit, Taji Mustafa, media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "Bush, the international community and the Arab leaders who applauded him at Annapolis have become apologists for a racist state that has brutalised and oppressed millions. The nationalistic and expansionist nature of Israel makes it an inherently destructive force in the region."
"Israel is to be directly aided in its efforts by the US military. Following the Annapolis summit Condoleezza Rice announced that US Generals Keith Dayton and James Jones (retd) would be ‘assisting the Palestinian Authority in building and putting the security apparatus to work’ and this would ‘include securing security arrangements between the Palestinian Authority and the neighbouring countries.’"
"Despite his weak denials, Mahmoud Abbas has further surrendered the security of the Palestinians by allowing US generals to dictate orders to Palestinian security officials. It is more apparent than ever that the vision of ‘Palestinian statehood’, like the existing Arab states, is more about securing Israel than anything else."
"Only a vision of the region that looks above race to citizenship under the Islamic Caliphate (Khilafah) could ever bring stability and security for all people of the region – regardless of tribe, race or creed. With historical precedents, the Caliphate has the ability to bring both justice and harmony to the Middle East and ensure that natural resources such as water and fuel would be for the benefit of all citizens and not the basis for endless conflict."
