London, UK, February 4 2009 – For all Obama’s talk of change, Hilary Clinton, unsurprisingly offered no change to US Middle East policy on her first visit to Palestine as US Secretary of State.
At today’s press conference with Israeli president Shimon Peres, she said "the United States has an unwavering commitment to Israel’s security and its right to protect itself". US support for Israel’s murderous occupation remains a constant in US Middle East policy.
Taji Mustafa, media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain said, “As the latest Israeli airstrike killed more people in Gaza, Hilary Clinton pledged ‘unwavering commitment to Israel’s security’.”
“In a cynical move, a day earlier, she pledged $900 million towards rebuilding Gaza following Israel’s massacre knowing full well that Israel has bombed, and will continue to bomb Gaza with weapons supplied by her government.”
“This unwavering support for the Israeli entity’s brutal massacres should dispel any hope some may have had about Obama’s ‘new way forward’ with regards to Palestine. US Presidents come and go, some policies may be amended, but there will be no real change of a colonial foreign policy that seeks US domination and exploitation of the Muslim world.”
“It is our belief that the re-establishment of the Islamic Khilafah (Caliphate) is the only guarantee to end foreign interference in the Muslim world and liberate the whole of Palestine – re-establishing the era of peace it once enjoyed.”
