London, UK, February 28 – Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, the Islamic political party, announces the imminent arrival tomorrow morning [11:30am, Wednesday 1st March, Terminal 3, Heathrow Airport] of three of its members from captivity in Egypt. The three ' Reza Pankhurst, Ian Nisbet and Maajid Nawaz ' have been detained for almost four years for expressing their political views peacefully.
Commenting on the impending arrival of the three, Dr Imran Waheed, a media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "We are very happy for the families of these men who have throughout campaigned tirelessly to raise the plight of prisoners of conscience in the Muslim world. Our thoughts remain with the tens of thousands of other prisoners incarcerated as political dissidents throughout the Muslim world, including dozens of members of Hizb ut-Tahrir imprisoned with these three in Egypt."
"These men were prisoners of conscience who were never accused even by the Egyptian authorities of violence, terrorism or militancy ? they were incarcerated solely for their political views and will rightfully return to Britain as heroes amongst the Muslim community in whose eyes they are not guilty of any crime. Ironically, while they were jailed for 5 years for their peaceful political views under Mubarak?s dictatorship in Egypt, they could end up being jailed for 10 years for their peaceful political views in the UK, if Tony Blair succeeds in proscribing Hizb ut-Tahrir in Britain."
