London, UK, November 5 2007 – Hundreds of protestors from across the UK will demonstrate at the Pakistan High Commission in London on Tuesday [6 November 2007] at an emergency demonstration against the Musharraf regime. The demonstration is organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain and follows Musharraf’s declaration of a state of emergency in Pakistan.
Dr Imran Waheed, media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "This protest will send a strong message that Muslims in Britain do not accept this Western backed dictator who bends over backwards to prosecute the US led ‘war on terror’ in the region. We will call for a new leadership and new system in Pakistan by re-establishing the Caliphate. It is only the Caliphate that can take power away from the feudal landowners and the rich industrialists, implement a real rule of law, produce economic prosperity for the many and not the few and ensure political decisions on the future of Pakistan are made in Islamabad, not London or Washington."
"By consistently putting expediency before principle, interests before values and dictatorship before justice, London and Washington continue to reveal their moral degradation when dealing with the Muslim world. Their constant interference in the internal affairs of the Muslim world betrays their true indifference to the human cost of their colonial policies."
"By declaring a state of emergency, Musharraf has sought to remove any remaining obstacles to the prosecution of the US led ‘war on terror’ in the region. It is not others that have brought Pakistan to the brink of ‘suicide’ but him and his political masters. Musharraf speaks of putting Pakistan first but for 8 years he has always put the interests of Western governments first – selling out over Kashmir, permitting American forces to establish bases in Pakistan, presiding over a bloodbath in Waziristan, Baluchistan and Swat, legitimising the occupation of Iraq, providing logistical support and intelligence to US forces in Afghanistan and surrendering control over Pakistan’s economy to multinationals."
The demonstration will take place on Tuesday 6th November at 7 pm at the High Commission of Pakistan, 35-36 Lowndes Square, London, SW1X 9JN.
