Hizb ut-Tahrir condemns the arrests of its members in Bangladesh for exposing India’s plot to destroy the Defence Forces and the Bangladesh governments inaction
Tuesday 24 March 2009, Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain organised a press conference to declare it’s statement on the recent ‘BDR massacre’ and the subsequent arrests of 31 Hizb ut-Tahrir members in Bangladesh for distributing leaflets which exposed India’s plots and the government’s inaction.
On the panel were Nazmul Haque (Chairman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangla Committee), Mujibul Islam (Bangla Media Representative), Liakot Sarkar (Assistant Media Representative) Rukon Chowdhury (Organising Secretary), and Solicitor Abdul Kuddus.
Mujibul Islam said that the evidence indicates that India and her local agents have plotted the ‘BDR massacre’ in order to create a division between the army and the BDR so that the defence force of Bangladesh becomes weak. He also stated that it was foolish of the government to invite foreign intelligent agencies to investigate this crime; especially when these same forces are involved in arresting and torturing Muslims in the name of ‘War on Terror’ all over the Muslim world and their only concern is to secure their interests.
Mujibul Islam further said that it was unjustified for the government to arrest members of Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh for exposing India’s conspiracy and accounting the ruler – the members were only carrying out their Islamic duty of protecting the Muslim’s interests.
He ended by demanding the Bangladesh government:
1. immediately and unconditionally releases the Hizb ut-Tahrir members in Bangladesh
2. puts an immediate stop to this conspiracy to destroy the defence forces
3. should explain its inaction and its role in this conspiracy
4. should refrain from hiding the truth and saving the conspirators
5. should punish the real perpetrators of the conspiracy and killing
He also urged the people to demand the re-establishment of the Khilafah which will unite the people and strengthen the defence forces to resist all belligerent states including US, India and Britain.
Nazmul Haque concluded by announcing Hizb ut-Tahrirs demonstration outside the Bangladesh Embassy, on Saturday 28th March 2009 at 11:30am.
