HTB accounts MP & the general secretary of Awami League Sayed Ashraful Islam

main.jpgLondon UK, 2nd May 2010 – Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain today held a demonstration in front of the Brady Centre, in East London. The protest, attended by the local Bangladeshi community, was organised in order to account Sayed Ashraful Islam, MP and the general secretary of Awami League.

Also, present in the Awami League meeting was the law minister of Bangladesh, Shafique Ahmed. This protest follows on from one held last week. However, due to the presence of so many people from the Bangladeshi community in the protest, Sayed Ashraful Islam failed to arrive on time, keeping his supporters waiting for hours, and only arriving when the protest ended.
Hizb ut-Tahrir is accounting Sayed Ashraful Islam because he represents a government, which has surrendered the interest and security of Bangladesh to the US/UK and India, and is unashamedly acting as their local agent.

Sayed Ashraful Islam on his visit to the UK is lecturing the Bangladeshi community about fighting terrorism and punishing war criminals. However, Ashraful Islam and the Awami League are in no position to lecture people about these matters. In fact, it is well known that it is the Awami League that is engaged in terrorism in the country. Their student and youth wings are terrorising innocent university students and businessmen. Also, it was the Awami League government that orchestrated the heinous crime of murdering our brightest army officers at Pilkhana thereby weakening our defence forces.

Furthermore, after the last successful protest he criticised all the sincere Muslims who gathered to account him by saying people should not demonstrate, as it will bring shame to Bangladesh. This is from a man whose party for decades created chaos on the streets of Bangladesh through violence and hartals (general strikes). So it is they, who have brought shame and humiliation to the Muslims of Bangladesh. In fact, the people today saw the true nature of the Awami League when their activists and supporters attempted to provoke the peaceful protest by rushing towards the protesters and hurling abuses. They became so wild in their behavior the police had to come in force to restrain them.

The Awami government like hypocrites talk about their western democracy and the rule of law yet ban Hizb ut-Tahrir, a non-violent, intellectual political party, purely because they exposed America’s malicious plans for Bangladesh. It is for this reason the government arrested Mohiuddin Ahmed, spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh, and put him in remand on false allegations despite the fact that for the last six months he was under house arrest without access to phones, computers or other people. The deputy spokesman, Kazi Murshedul Hoque, has also been arrested and put in remand without providing any evidences to back up their false allegations.

Hizb ut-Tahrir, alongside the protesters, demanded the immediate release of Mohiuddin Ahmed, Kazi Murshedul Hoque and all other Hizb ut-Tahrir activists. They also demanded the end of the corrupt Awami League government so the Khilafah (Islamic State) can be established in Bangladesh which will bring a sincere leadership that will rescue the country from the plans of the colonial powers and put the country on a path of progress and development.
