London, UK, November 8, 2007 – Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain is convening nationwide seminars and distributing over one hundred thousand political leaflets as part of its ongoing nationwide campaign entitled "Stop Musharraf Destroying Pakistan". The distribution of the leaflet entitled " Musharraf declares emergency with US and UK blessing " will take place at mosques across the UK tomorrow (November 9th) and the nationwide seminars will be held in major UK cities including London, Birmingham and Manchester.

The seminars and leaflet distribution follow a large demonstration held at the Pakistan High Commission on Tuesday November 6th 2007 and are part of a campaign that calls for a new leadership and new system in Pakistan by re-establishing the Caliphate.

The leaflet exposes the British and American government’s support for Musharraf’s declaration of a state of emergency, highlighting Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s conversation with Musharraf and US Admiral Fallon’s meeting with Musharraf the day before emergency rule was declared.
 

On the declaration of the state of emergency, the leaflet points out that, "The key reason for the state of emergency is not for the best interests of Pakistan but concerns about how best to execute the interests of America’s militant foreign policy. By eliminating opposition in the judiciary and the political classes, Musharraf hopes to continue his violent crusade against the Muslims in Waziristan, Afghanistan and the NWFP unfettered."
 

"Musharraf like every past dictator detests the principle of accountability, a key cornerstone of the Islamic political system."

The leaflet concludes with a call to Muslims in Britain; "The British Foreign Secretary who helped facilitate the deal with Benazir Bhutto to secure Musharraf’s position has asked that you support his call to return Benazir. We ask you to support the call of Allah, to use your voice and influence and connections to join the Muslims in Pakistan in a call for a real change – which means both a new leadership and a new system – the Khilafah system."
