I write in relation to the article entitled "Islamists Launch PR ‘war’ against western values" in yesterday’s Express newspaper.
Your sensationalist characterisation of our ‘Stand for Islam’ campaign typifies the type of journalism that fuels anti-Muslim feeling in Britain today.
The Express tolerates Jim Davidson criticising the lack of respect in modern Britain or David Cameron’s description of Britain’s ‘Broken Society’, yet it seeks to censor Muslim voices that criticise those values that cause very real harms in society and that are foisted upon the rest of the world by force. To us, this smacks of rank hypocrisy.
Nonetheless, your fanatical attacks on what is actually a well-reasoned campaign doesn’t surprise us, coming as it does from a newspaper that is owned by man who has, in a typical capitalist way, profited from pornography that in our opinion debases and exploits women.
We remain committed to our principles, even if you chose to soil those that you claim to defend.
