London, UK, July 3 – Hundreds of Muslims from across the UK will demonstrate in London this Tuesday (July 4) against continued Israeli aggression in Gaza. The peaceful demonstration entitled 'Muslim neighbours must support Palestinians' will take place outside the Egyptian Embassy in London. The demonstration is organised by the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain.
In the past few days, Israeli forces have kidnapped Palestinians from Ramallah, destroyed infrastructure in Gaza, and continued to shell and launch air strikes on Palestinians – resulting in deaths. Today, Israeli tanks have entered northern Gaza.
Imran Waheed, a media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "Israel has once again launched its terror machine into Gaza, endangering the lives of innocent civilians. Power to hospitals has been cut, sewage is accumulating and people are being fired upon. The response from Bush, Blair and Israel?s backers is a predictable endorsement that the life of one occupying soldier is worth more than that of any of Gaza's civilians or their wellbeing. What is unacceptable is the reaction of the neighbouring Muslim governments. Where is the duty of concern from the Muslim neighbours?"
"Unlike the Egyptian people , and the Muslims of the region , once again, the Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak has sided with Israel, working tirelessly for the release of the Israeli soldier whilst doing nothing to defend the suffering Palestinian women and children against the brutal apartheid Israeli regime."
The peaceful demonstration will take place outside the Egyptian Embassy, 26 South Street, London, W1Y 6DD [nearest underground: Hyde Park Corner] on Tuesday 4th July 2006 at 7 p.m.
