London, UK, June 7 – Today's report by the Council of Europe that concludes that fourteen European states colluded with the CIA in kidnapping terror suspects and moving them to third countries for interrogation is further evidence that western governments have completely discarded all international norms and principles that they had previously been preaching to the entire world.
The final report says that it is now clear that "authorities in several European countries actively participated with the CIA in these unlawful activities". The report slams MI5 for cooperating with the CIA in "abducting persons against which there is no evidence enabling them to be kept in prison lawfully".
Dr Imran Waheed, a media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "This report reveals further evidence of British government complicity – not only do these CIA flights regularly operate from UK airbases, but detainees have spoken of British intelligence personnel working with their tormentors. The British government continues to be a customer to torturers in Saudi Arabia , Egypt , Uzbekistan , Algeria , Jordan , Morocco and many other places. The great majority of those who suffer torture at the hands of these regimes are not terrorists, but political opponents."
"Given these revelations, it is not really surprising that the British government now wants to formalise arrangements for outsourcing torture by entering into 'Memorandums of Understanding' with the dictators and tyrants of the Muslim world. This will allow them to deport Muslim suspects to their country of origin where many of them will almost certainly be tortured. Outsourcing torture to support dictators shows that talk of human rights, freedom and democracy is merely a smokescreen to hide the interests of western governments in the Muslim world. "
"The Islamic Khilafah [Caliphate] will abolish all torture, ensure that citizens are innocent until proven guilty, prevent the state from spying on citizens and allow people to look beyond the web of deceit and lies of their governments in the 'war on terror'".
