London, UK, March 7 – The decision by the British government to host Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz is yet another shocking example of the hypocritical stance of western governments in relation to the dictatorships of the Muslim world. Musharraf's military junta has wielded power with an iron fist, silenced political dissent, stifled debate and arrested opposition politicians, as seen with the recent visit of the US President to Pakistan.
Imran Waheed, a media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, "Western governments, that used the arguments of political repression against the regime of Saddam Hussain, have turned a blind eye to the repression of this dictatorship and sent them a clear signal of approval."
"Dictators the world over know that they have friends in Downing Street as long as they continue to serve their interests, but should remember the lesson of Saddam – the love affair doesn't last forever."
