Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain has organised a day long conference entitled ‘Hizb ut-Tahrir and the Vision for the Caliphate’. The conference aims to highlight the detailed political vision with which Hizb ut-Tahrir has been working in the Muslim world for over 50 years using non-violent political means to establish the Islamic Caliphate.
Western governments, in particular Britain and the US, have unleashed a propaganda campaign to malign the work in the Muslim world for establishing Islamic governance, the Caliphate, by equating this with fanaticism, violence and terrorism. In a speech on 16th July 2005, UK Prime Minister Tony Blair unconditionally condemned the call for “one Caliphate of all Muslim nations”.
This is no more than a desperate attempt to prevent the Muslim world from liberating herself from the dictatorial regimes such as those of Karimov, Musharraf, Gadaffi, Abdullah and Assad, amongst others. These regimes have systematically imprisoned, tortured and executed Muslims who have accounted their oppressive, dictatorial policies and their utter failure to solve the multitude of problems such as poverty, unemployment, crime, corruption, occupation and nepotism in these countries. Whilst the people of the Muslim world have suffered endlessly at the hands of these dictators, the Western governments have courted these rulers, describing them as ?friends and allies? as they fulfil their economic and political interests in the Muslim world.
The Muslim world now desires the end of these dictatorships and sham democracies and the establishment of the Islamic Caliphate. The Islamic Caliphate, far from being like the dictatorships and sham democracies the West supports, is a state that will bring elected rulers who will be accountable to the people, an independent judiciary and active political parties who will account the ruler in fulfilling the rights of the people. The Caliphate will not be a state just for Muslims, but a state for people of all races, colour and religions. Jews, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs and adherents of other religions will enjoy equal rights as Muslims and their faith and values will be protected in the same way as Islam. The Caliphate will end the gross economic exploitation by the rich elites throughout the world by establishing an economy that ensures the accessibility of wealth to the masses rather than accumulation of wealth in the hands of the few. Women, far from being denied their rudimentary rights as Mr Blair would like us to believe, will be active participants in society – electing and accounting rulers and engaging in trade, business and education.
Whilst the Western governments have brought corrupt rulers, economic exploitation and war to the Muslim world in the name of ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’, Hizb ut-Tahrir, from its inception in 1953 has brought a clear and detailed political vision to solve the injustice and oppression in the Muslim world. Throughout its 50-year history it has never resorted to violence but worked consistently, channelling the frustration of the masses into political work to establish the Islamic Caliphate. This call is now heard loudly throughout the entire Muslim world from Turkey to Indonesia, weakening the iron grip of the dictators on the masses day by day. In their desperation and anxiety at the potential fall of these dictators, who have loyally served Western governments, Western politicians are trying to label the legitimate political demand of the Islamic Caliphate as one of violence and terrorism.
From this conference today, Hizb ut-Tahrir announces that it will continue with its non-violent political work for the establishment of the Caliphate in the Muslim world. In the West, Hizb ut-Tahrir will continue to dispel the myths and propaganda against Islam and present the Islamic Caliphate as the only State that will stand up to the injustices of global capitalism and imperialism.
