London, UK, 4th September 2008 – Yesterday, the US military led a military assault into Pakistan killing 20 – mostly women and children. According to people in Musa Neka Ziarat, three US helicopters landed at around 4am and troops disembarked and attacked a house. ‘The Americans came in helicopters, landed, walked up to the houses, started shooting and then flew back towards Afghanistan,’ a villager told Dawn newspaper. The Washington Post described this as the ‘first known instance in which U.S. forces conducted an operation on Pakistani soil’.
Commenting on this attack, Taji Mustafa, Media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, “We utterly condemn the terrorism of the US in killing more innocent Muslims in this latest atrocity. US massacres of wedding parties in Afghanistan are well documented as are their abuses in Iraq, yet now they are so bold and arrogant that they cross into the sovereign territory of another state and kill its citizens.“
“Any self-respecting government would take the strongest measures against such an act of aggression but the democrats in Pakistan – that replaced the military dictatorship of Musharraf – are compromising Pakistan’s interest just as slavishly. It has made no substantive move against this outrageous action except a pathetic protest from its ambassador in Washington.”
“These Democrats talk about defending its sovereignty but send troops to pursue so-called militants in Swat and the border region instead of defending the borders against US aggression. They spend more time jostling for positions and cosying up to western politicians than they do defending the people’s interests. The current democratic system continually promotes the agenda of western colonial powers and not the people.”
“The case for the Khilafah has never been stronger – a state that will take its Islamic responsibility to pursue policies free from servitude to Washington or London, defending its frontiers and looking after people’s affairs. Unless there is a change from flip-flopping between discredited secularists – dictators and democrats alike – who follow the same servile pro-US policies, more innocent blood will be spilled, and we will see ever greater incursions into Pakistan’s territory, taking it down the road of Iraq and Afghanistan.”
