London UK, 5th September 2009 – Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain held an iftar event in Walthamstow on the occasion of Pakistan’s Defence Day. The event was attended by key members of the local Pakistani community. Chaired by Sami Ur Rehman, senior member of Hizb ut-Tahrir from Walthamstow, the event included a presentation by Atif Salahuddin from Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain’s Pakistan Committee.
Atif Salahuddin explained that while Pakistan’s politicians are engaged in mudslinging, talking about MQM’s Jinnahpur maps and talking about Musharraf’s trial, very few are speaking against America’s growing control of Pakistan as it builds a new ‘super embassy’ in Islamabad which will house hundreds of US marines and allow their intelligence agents to move freely throughout the country. Atif further explained that Zardari and Nawaz Sharif instead of questioning the American presence are warmly welcoming American officials and facilitating their ‘War on Terror’. Whilst Pakistan celebrates Defence Day, the real question to be asked is who will defend Pakistan from the new American Raj?
Atif Salahuddin explained that the current puppet rulers of Pakistan are doing everything in their capacity to destroy Paksitan by handing the sovereignty of the country into the hands of the colonial powers. Paksitan can only be saved by removing these rulers and establishing a sincere Islamic leadership that will defend the country and the people. Both military dictatorships and so-called democracy have proven to be disasters for Pakistan. An Islamic Khilafah government will expel America from the region and save Pakistan from the instability and chaos on its borders. Only an Islamic government will have the legitimacy and confidence of the people to address the critical problems facing Pakistan today. Hizb ut-Tahrir is working in Pakistan to bring this much needed change through a non-violent political method and calls on the people of influence to support the party to establish the Islamic Khilafah State in Pakistan.
The presentation was followed by a lively discussion by key members of the Paksitani community who expressed their support for Hizb ut-Tahrir’s global work to re-establish the Islamic Khilafah State.
